SONG INSPIRATIONS

"Señorita" - The music to Señorita was one of the first musical compositions I put together. The song describes the challenges some young people have about accepting themselves as they are. Interpreting faith at times, can be an internal struggle. Note the liberating freedom "feel" in the bridge towards the end of the song.
Co-writer Serena Sol Brown. Release date August 1st. Lyric Video on VIDEO page.

"Make A Change" - I was playing this chord progression and began to sing the words "on the road tonight, blurry road up ahead." That was the beginning of the song structure. So I envisioned a young ethnic woman wanting a better life for herself. She leaves abruptly in the middle of the night and begins to drive for many hours. She becomes extremely exhausted and finds an Inn. The owner has been very biased toward any race other than his own his entire life. The woman pleads and confesses the real reason why she needs to rest. Song available on VIDEO page.

"Shampoo Nights" - For almost 20 years, Shampoo Nightclub in Philadelphia was the place to be. Ten of those years, I worked as one of the Friday night DJ's. It was a time before cell phones and present day social media. The song is my perspective experience. Song available on VIDEO page.

"State of Affairs" - It seems more than ever how much we are ALL affected by the present day politics. While shopping, I noticed there were no clerks to ring me up. An honor system for a person financially struggling? How things have changed, some for better, some for worse. Song available on VIDEO page.

"The End of Me" - I was rehearsing some original music with a friend and began to play a Gershwin song that she sang at one of our high school shows. The lament sound progression stuck with me. I had always wanted to write about the Bacardi legacy, (who by the way shares the same birthday as me) so I added a touch of latin and thus "The End of Me" was born. Song available on VIDEO page.

"La Primavera a Tu Lado" ("Springtime By Your Side") - I was sitting at my dinning room table, at the start of spring, rear windows open. It was a gorgeous day and the wind gusts were so strong, it appeared as though the landscape was dancing. A cat hurriedly and happily passes by. When in love, the environment comes alive. The lyrics in Spanish, illustrate how consequential the environment can be. English Subtitles Available. Song available on VIDEO page.

"Fotographia" (Las Fotos de Mi Mama) - For those of us who were lucky to be brought up in loving home, can agree the value of a mother. I lost my mother in 2019. It's difficult to understand why we lose those we love. She was glorious in EVERY aspect of motherhood. Her love was instrumental in my upbringing and her photos and memories are all that's left. English Subtitles Available. Song available on VIDEO page.
