"Changing Minds" - How many times have we been crushed by a changing mind?
Everyone has the right to change their minds... even if it shatters you. "Changing Minds" describes 2 scenarios in which a man proposes to his love and a couple unable to conceive, are promised one from a pregnant teen.
"PUPPET" - Many years ago, I was caught up in a physical relationship while trying to get over someone. I was angry and all I wanted was physical gratification. "IN YOUR SHADOWS" - One can only wish to be so lucky, to live life without ANY regrets. Time may soften the pain, but cannot erase the wonder of what might have been.
"SHAMPOO NIGHTS" - For almost 20 years, Shampoo Nightclub in Philadelphia was the place to be. Ten of those years, I worked as one of the Friday night DJ's. It was a time before cell phones and present day social media. The song, my perspective experience.
"VAYA MI BASSA NOVA' - (Instrumental). Bossa Nova music from the 70's - smooth, romantic, and sexy. I composed the guitar melody, added bass, lead guitar, and a tamborine to this backing beat to give it a "joy of being with the one you love." (Backing track, Venado Tuerto, Argentina).
"CONFESSIONS" (I'M TELLIN' YOU) -
How many of us have been in a situation where we have fallen for someone already spoken for. This song is that situation, a confession. So picture the lyricists using the song in real time to tell the person.. "Hey, I'm tellin ya now, so what ya gonna do?" With Bernice Bragg and Susan Spaulding.
"STATE OF AFFAIRS" - It seems more than ever how much we are ALL affected by the present day politics. While shopping, I noticed there were no clerks to ring me up. An honor system for a person financially struggling? How things have changed, some for the better, some for the worse.
"MAKE A CHANGE" - I was playing this chord progression and began to sing the words "on the road tonight, blurry road up ahead," the feel of the progression gave me an idea. I envisioned a young ethnic woman wanting a better life for herself. She leaves abruptly in the middle of the night and begins to drive for many hours. She becomes extremely exhausted and finds an Inn. The owner has been very biased toward any race other than his own his entire life. The woman pleads and confesses the real reason why she needs to rest.
"STAIRCASE OF SOULS" - In relationships there are qualities in a person that you connect with. Although the relationship ends, you seek out those connections in others. The staircase a metaphor for life, and souls the individuals one meets.
